Ann Thayer is a Virginia criminal defense lawyer and manages our Virginia criminal practice for Price Benowitz LLP. Ann got her training at the Fredericksburg Public Defender's Office, where she prided herself on her communication skills and ability to understand and work well with her clients in representing their interests on a variety of misdemeanor and felony offenses. These offenses include rape, sexual assault charges, assault and battery, shoplifting and larceny and drug offenses. Ms. Thayer appeared in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, General District Courts and Circuit Courts. She joined a northern Virginia DUI firm in June 2007 where she continued her zealous defense of those charged with various criminal defenses throughout Northern Virginia. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Criminal Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, Prince William County Bar Associate and the National College of DUI Defense.
Ms. Thayer attended Widener School of Law in Harrisburg where she obtained her Juris Doctorate and completed internships with the Prince William County Attorney's Office and The Air Force JAG in Warner Robins, GA. Her father served as a police officer and then retired as a detective from the Prince William County Police Department, which inspired her to obtain a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Roanoke College in Salem, VA.
Vanessa Hicks handles the Virginia criminal defense practice in southwest Virginia for Price Benowitz LLP. Ms. Hick's extensive experience has built-up her reputation as an aggressive and effective Virginia criminal lawyer. Vanessa Hicks began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in Lynchburg, VA. Most recently, she was the Chief Public Defender in Arlington, VA. During her time as a Virginia criminal attorney, Ms. Hicks has worked on both adult and juvenile cases and argued Virginia criminal cases successfully in front of judges and juries. Ms. Hicks graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. In 1989 she received her Juris Doctorate from Washington and Lee School of Law where she was a member of the Mock Trial Team and the Alderson Women's Prison Legal Clinic. She is currently a member of the Virginia Bar Association and the Virginia Criminal Justice Conference.
David Benowitz , founding partner of Price Benowitz LLP, is barred in Washington DC and Maryland and has spent his entire professional career defending the rights of clients. A successful and well respected trial attorney, David works tirelessly to get his clients the best possible results. Most recently David completed the training to become an Instructor of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) (the tests police officers conduct after a traffic stop). David holds an LL.M., an advanced law degree in Trial Advocacy, from Temple University School of Law. David graduated with honors from The George Washington University School of Law and Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds the prestigious "AV" Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
